Wonderful Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend! It seems that after an extremely cool spring, summer has finally come! The weather was absolutely beautiful this weekend and we enjoyed it as a family! We had a relaxing night on Friday. Saturday we slept in as late as Ty would let us, had a nice slow morning reading and drinking coffee and then took off to the mountains after Ty's morning nap. We hiked in to a river that Tanner has gone to several times and Tanner fly fished while Ty, Annie (our dog) and I sat on the shore. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Today we enjoyed going to the pool at our apartment, spent more time relaxing, went out to eat for dinner and now Ty is playing contently with her toys and Tanner is watching the NBA Finals. I love my amazing husband and beautiful daughter and am so thankful that I have the great delight of enjoying life with them.

It has been a long time!

Well, it has been way too long since I have blogged. I hope to remedy my faithless blogging skills by committing to becoming a more consistent blogger......starting today!

So much has happened in the last couple months! Ty is almost 8 months which is unbelievable to me. Ty and I got to go to Montana at the beginning of May and spend some great quality time with my dear friend Kylie for her 30th Birthday. I turned 24 a couple weeks ago. Our family went to visit Tanner's parents and sibling over Memorial Day weekend. It was wonderful to see my in-laws. I love them so much. Mice invaded my apartment and I enrolled in school! Whew!

So, there is a lot that I could write about, but i don't have much time. I will just fill you in on that last one. So, I have officially decided to go back to school and finish my degree. I am so excited and really feel like the Lord is leading me into this! The degree I will finish with is a bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies. I start a couple summer classes on MONDAY. I am a little nervous about it. Though I will be able to do much of the degree online (the rest of my general requirements through the community college here and then the rest of the degree through Colorado State University) I never want school (or anything) to hinder my priority of being a good mom and wife. However, both Tanner and I feel like this is something that will be helpful in the future (hopefully on the mission field working with orphans) and I am just so excited to be challenged again! My goal is to be done in a couple years. This may not be possible, but I am shooting for it!

Anyway, like I said, I am going to really try to be a better "blogger" so I'll keep you posted! I will also put new pics up of Ty soon. She has grown so much in the last couple months!

Ty has entered the world of eating solid foods! Oh how I love the diapers that accompany this wonderful new phase of "baby-hood"! Here are just a few pics of her getting ready to eat!

Wonderful Husband!

Today my amazing husband got up early and went on a bike ride. I was in our room when he got home and when I walked out sitting on the counter were these beautiful flowers with such a kind note, just because. I love my husband so much! He is such a man of God and every day I am amazed at his incredible passion and leadership. He is such a sincere man who longs to love the Lord with all his heart. I am so glad I get to be married to him. I am so blessed!

Hikes, Baby Food and West Wing

This last weekend was very enjoyable. Tanner had meetings all weekend long which was sad because we did not get to spend much time with him, but Ty and I had a great couple days together. Saturday I made TONS of baby food thanks to my good friend Kylie's inspirational blog posts with baby food recipes in them! It was so fun to make food for my little girl. After Ty woke up from her afternoon nap we went on a beautiful hike in the mountains with our dog. I put Ty in the backpack for the hike and wasn't sure how she would do since she has not yet been in it for a long time. She LOVED it! She talked the whole hike and would periodically giggle. I had such a good time enjoying the fresh Colorado air and spent a lot of the hike talking to Jesus. I'm so thankful for such a beautiful place to live.

At night when Tanner was home we watched the TV series the West Wing. We are addicted. It is so bad. We are finally on the final season which is so good because we have spent way too much time watching this show. I seriously think we watched 8 episodes this weekend.....hmm...I feel guilty! However, we are almost done and when we are, we have committed to not allow ourselves to indulge in another TV series! We want to spend a whole lot more time reading, talking and doing stuff outside, which will be much easier to do now that it is finally starting to warm up!

Anyway, overall, I had such a great weekend. Last week we were in Florida relaxing on the Gulf Coast beach. That was amazing, but there is something so satisfying about being home and just enjoying the simple delights of life that God gives that even a vacation with lots of rich food, pool and beach time and shopping can never bring. I am realizing that I want to be able to say with the apostle Paul, "In everything I am content"!

Ty is 6 Months!

Ty is 6 Months Old! I can hardly believe it! My little girl is half a year old already. Everyone has told me to treasure every moment because it goes so fast. I believed them, but I never could have imagined just how fast she would grow up. She is no longer a little newborn who is content to sleep anywhere. Ty is a very curious little girl, never satisfied with sitting or laying in the same position for very long! I love the adventurous spirit I can already see in her. Though she does smile for us often, she is also very serious. She takes everything in and it seems like she is always trying to make sense of things! I kind of think she will have some of her daddy's intense personality, which I love. I pray every day that she will grow up to be intensely in love with Jesus.

As for how she has grown physically, her eyes are STILL blue! I keep expecting them to change, but they have not yet! Her hair has lightened quite a bit in the last couple months and is a beautiful reddish/blonde color. She still has a hilariously large bald spot right in the middle of the back of head! It is quite funny, but still so cute. She is not as chubby as she was at 3 months and 3-6 month clothes are sometimes still a little too big. She still has the wonderful chubby cheeks that her daddy and I love to kiss!

Ty is sitting up fairly well on her own, but topples over if she is left unattended too long. She loves her "belly time" and is trying desperately these last few days to get up on her hands and knees. I am so excited to see her crawl, but know my life will drastically change when this curious little girl becomes more independently mobile! She just started eating solids every day and has taken to it quite well! Ty is still taking at least three naps a day and sleeps pretty well through the night. She gets thrown off schedule pretty easily, but when we are having a normal week she will sleep at least a full 8-9 hours at night before waking up to nurse. Ty loves our dog Annie and will lay on her belly squealing at her and trying to grab her ears. Annie takes it quite well! I love spending my days with her! I love watching her figure things out and seeing her personality develop! I love everything about this beautiful gift the Lord has given us! Ty.... I love you so much!!!!!!!!

Lord....you are so kind to give us such a wonderful daughter! I am so thankful for her every day! I pray that you would give Tanner and I wisdom as we raise her. May she grow up to be a woman full great depth and love for you! Cause her passions to be filled with the delight that only comes from you and which you give so freely! Thank you for your kind leadership in our lives!
